The M1126 is the basic infantry version of the wheeled armored personnel carrier of the US Army, built on an eight-wheeled chassis and intended for moving a squad quickly on paved and unpaved roads alike. The CROWS-J is a remotely operated weapon station completed by a launcher for the Javelin antitank missile: the operator aims and fires from inside the vehicle through a day and thermal camera, so there is no need to rise above the armor. The configuration came about as a response to the requirement to strengthen the antiarmor capability of wheeled units without interfering with the design of the vehicle.
On wheeled vehicles the whole impression is carried by how the wheels sit: try the axles dry on a level board, so that the model does not limp, and glue the tires on only once the hull has been painted, as otherwise their matte rubber gets dusted for no reason. Mask the optics, the cameras and the vision blocks with liquid mask or glue them in at the very end, because clean glass is highly visible on modern vehicles. A uniform modern coat easily looks flat, so it pays to grade the shade, lighten the horizontal surfaces and suggest the edges with a darker line. Keep the patina sparing: dust on the wheels and the underside of the hull, small scuffs on the step surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
