A self-adhesive masking set for painting the road wheels of the M51 Israeli Super Sherman tank in 1:35 scale, cut for the kit from Tamiya. The mask covers the rubber band, the rim is sprayed over with the vehicle color and the border stays exactly circular. It is neither a kit nor a replacement part.
There is one thing worth doing before you reach for the glue: take out the sprues with the wheels, lay them beside the sheet of masks and go through it piece by piece. You are checking three things. First the diameter — the mask should end exactly on the border between band and rim, not a little above it or below it. Second the number of wheel parts against the number of masks on the sheet, so you do not discover halfway through the job that none is left for the last wheel. Third the type of running gear, because Shermans were built with several different suspensions and the wheels differ between them. If something does not match, every option is still open to you at that moment. Discover it only after assembly and the base coat, and you are dealing with it by lining with a brush on a finished model. Do the trial run dry, without peeling off the backing film.
Paint the wheels in the rubber shade, let them dry, apply the masks, press the edge down around the circumference and spray the rims over in thin coats. Remove the masks as soon as the paint has flashed off.
