Photo-etched parts for the naval Vickers machine gun of half-inch caliber in 1:350 scale. The package holds four sets for filling out the light anti-aircraft armament of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vickers of half-inch caliber, that is 12.7 millimeters, was a British machine gun that served on warships as light anti-aircraft defense and was also fitted in multiple mounts. Against the fast aircraft of the later years its performance was no longer enough, but it stayed on decks for a long time and forms a characteristic element of British ships. In 1:350 scale the whole weapon works out at a few millimeters, so from a plastic kit it tends to be no more than a coarse stub.
Photo-etched parts in 1:350 scale; the package holds four sets. For a weapon this small, photo-etching is the most suitable route, because it allows a thinness and a fineness that cannot even be managed in injection-molded plastic.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and work over a surface with raised edges, so that a part that springs away does not end up on the floor. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, always in one movement. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a pin; any excess can no longer be removed from a part this small. Finish and paint the assembly off the model, degreasing the metal first and spraying it with a base color. Fit the weapons to the ship at the very end, because during any further handling they will almost certainly bend.
The set suits modelers of ships in 1:350 scale who want to replace the coarse plastic armament and are not afraid of working with small photo-etched parts. For a first build it is a demanding task. The ship model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
