A photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Eduard concentrating on the wheel wells, the landing gear doors and the outer surfaces of the model of the American bomber B-26B-50 Invader in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit in its own right but an accessory that replaces or completes the plastic parts with finely made metal detail: stiffeners, panels, handles and further small items that injection-molded plastic cannot render faithfully.
The Douglas Invader was an American twin-engine attack bomber that proved itself at the close of the Second World War and afterwards above all in Korea, where it also flew night attack missions against the supply routes. The machines designated B-26 after 1948 carried heavy gun armament in the nose and under the wings and belonged among the longest-serving aircraft of their category. And it is the substantial wheel wells that are very visible on the model, so refining them really does pay off.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard backing; a photo-etch bender or tweezers with flat jaws will serve for bending. Glue them with super glue applied in small doses with a pin or a toothpick. Before painting, degrease the metal parts and give them a coat of primer so that the paint holds reliably.
This is an accessory for a plastic model: the kit of the aircraft itself is not included in the package.
