A hydraulic jack, 2 pieces, 1:48 is a resin set of ground support equipment from Advanced Modeling. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a diorama of maintenance and parked hardware.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a pair of resin hydraulic jacks in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an item from the category of airfield ground support equipment, which will bring a base, a hangar or a maintenance scene to life. Jacks are among the most frequently used tools on the ramp — without them a scene with an aircraft raised above its landing gear cannot be built faithfully. The resin casting captures even the small things that would be lost in injection-molded plastic: the heads of the piston rods, the feet, the joint pins.
Hydraulic jacks are used on aircraft when changing wheels and tires, during retraction tests of the landing gear, when weighing a machine and during repairs after a hard touchdown. They work on the principle of a manually or power-driven hydraulic cylinder that bears against reinforced seats in the structure of the airframe. They are always used in a group, so that the aircraft is stabilized, and they are supplemented with a safety nut against the piston rod sinking of its own accord.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the area down; when sanding resin, protect your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, as plastic cement does not work. For painting, choose a base in the form of primer, matte technical shades or warning yellow, and leave the piston rods in a glossy metallic shade — a polished metal pigment or chrome lacquer suits them. A fine wash into the shadows, chipping on the edges and discreet oil stains at the seals will add credibility.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
