Die-cut masks for the Bf 109K-4 in 1:48 scale complemented by metal. In the package are cut-outs for the glazing from the outside and the reverse, a pair of masks for the national insignia, muzzles for both MG 131 machine guns and an airspeed sensor.
Responsibility details are not available.
The K-4 sub-version closed the development of a fighter that had been built since 1937. Under the cowling worked the DB 605D engine, a 30 mm MK 108 cannon fired through the axis of the propeller and above it sat two MG 131 machine guns under elongated fairings. From outside the K-4 is recognized by the tall wooden fin and the retractable tailwheel. It went into combat only in the last months of the war and a single fuselage section of it survives.
The set offers cut-outs for both sides of the glazing, two masks for the national insignia and metal additions, namely the ends of both machine guns and a Pitot tube. The cuts were made to the Hasegawa kit.
The cut-outs intended for the reverse are the decisive ones. They are applied before the cockpit is joined to the fuselage, and from the moment the glue sets a hand can no longer reach them. A shift of half a millimeter is enough and an asymmetrical frame will stand out on the finished model for good. It pays to work under a magnifier, to lift the mask off the backing with the point of a scalpel and to press it down with a toothpick, never with a finger.
A metal end will seat only in a hole drilled on the axis. A short drill in a hand holder and a few dry trial fits will save disappointment, because smeared glue on a cowling is harder to remove than any other mistake.
