The 1.5 mm cemented carbide engraver from Border Model: a precision tool for engraving and restoring panel lines on plastic models, with a carbide tip that keeps its edge far longer than steel.
Responsibility details are not available.
A precision modeling engraver with a tip 1.5 mm wide made of cemented carbide, that is a hard metal that keeps its edge far longer than ordinary tool steel. The tool is intended for engraving and deepening panel lines and surface details on plastic models, from restoring lines sanded away while filling joints to cutting in the divisions that the kit maker only suggested shallowly.
A width of 1.5 mm is among the finer ones and suits the small divisions found on aircraft and vehicles in smaller scales or on fine details of larger models. You will get the best results with light repeated strokes: the line is formed step by step, stays clean and free of burrs. A ruler, a flexible template or several layers of masking tape stuck beside the line to come will all serve as a guide.
For modelers who want to take the surface detail of their models to a higher level: engraved panel lines brought out with a dark shade after spraying give aircraft, vehicles and ships a markedly more realistic look. Thanks to the carbide tip it is a long-term investment in the equipment of the workbench, which you will not have to resharpen or replace often.
The tool has a sharp tip: keep it out of the reach of children and always cut away from your hand. Cemented carbide is very hard but brittle, so protect the tip from falls onto a hard floor.
