Russian Army Sledge Train 1 (Napoleonic) is a set of unpainted figures in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Strelets devoted to a Russian sledge supply train from the time of the Napoleonic wars.

The first set from the line of Russian sledge trains in 1:72 scale. The manufacturer is the firm Strelets, which has long focused on figures from the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. The content is a supply subject, that is, sledges, teams and accompanying characters, not a combat scene. The castings are of soft plastic of a uniform color and come unassembled and unpainted.
The Russian army reckoned with winter operation as a matter of course, and in the north and east sledges were an ordinary means of transport throughout the whole time snow lay. Compared with a wheeled wagon they had less rolling resistance, took a decent load and got through where a wagon would have sunk in. The supply column meanwhile set the pace of the whole army, because ammunition and provisions had to arrive before the units got into the fighting.
Before painting, degrease the figures and prime them, otherwise the acrylic on soft plastic will not stand up even to careful holding between the fingers. The horses are the load-bearing element of this set, so it pays to paint them separately from the sledges: a base in a brown or gray tone, the transitions on the belly and the nostrils in a lighter shade and the mane and the tail darker. The harnesses have only suggested engraving in this scale, so a thin line of dark paint drawn along the edge will do. Accent the metal parts of the iron-shod sledges with a graphite or steel color applied with an almost dry brush. Finally unify the whole assembly with matte clear, which at the same time protects the paint while a diorama is carried.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
