An accessory from the Polish manufacturer PANZER ART for the Soviet JS-2 heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It replaces the gun mantlet together with the 122 mm gun. A cast mantlet has one substantial advantage over a plastic part: it captures the rough texture of the casting that the real mantlet had and that injection-molded plastic almost never reproduces.
The JS-2 was a Soviet heavy tank armed with a 122 mm gun, that is a weapon derived from an artillery piece. The shell had an enormous weight and could knock out even a heavily armored target; the drawbacks were the separate-loading ammunition and the low rate of fire that came with it. The tank was meant for breaking through fortified positions, not for duels with tanks decided by speed.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. Try the fit in the turret dry and only then bond with super glue. Bring the rough texture of the mantlet out with a dark wash and dry brushing, so that it stands out; it is exactly the contrast between the smooth barrel and the rough mantlet that makes the result convincing.
The set is an accessory to a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
