The real subject

The Yamaha FZR750 belongs among the sports road machines of the late 1980s. The 750 cc class was then the basic category of the Superbike World Championship, so sporting 750s were built with racing use in mind and carried the best the marque could do at the time. For the modeler it is a rewarding subject: under the bodywork hides mechanical work that comes out on a finished model precisely in the exposed rear end with the wheel drive.

What the set contains

This is a replacement final drive chain in 1:12 scale. According to the product name it is intended for the kit given in brackets, that is the Fujimi 141428. The material, the number of links and the way it is joined are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check them there before building.

Building tips

Put the rear end together dry first and only then reach for the glue. The chain goes around both the front and the rear sprocket, so it has to be fitted before you fix the swingarm and the wheel in place for good. The sprockets should lie in one plane; the best way to check that is to look from behind against a light surface. On a machine at rest the lower run of the chain sags slightly, and stretched into a straight line it looks unnatural. Lay the small parts out on a surface with a rim and pick them up with tweezers.

Who it is for

The set suits the modeler for whom the chain from the kit is not enough and who wants the rear wheel drive finer. It calls for patience and a steady hand, but the work itself is short. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
