The Junkers Ju 88 was a German twin-engine aircraft of the Second World War and one of the most versatile machines of its day: it served as a bomber, a reconnaissance aircraft and a night fighter. You will recognize it by the glazed nose into which the whole crew is squeezed and by the slim fuselage with long engine nacelles. The additional fuel tank was among the modifications that units carried out away from the production line, so that the machine gained greater range and could stay in the air longer than had been reckoned with for the basic version.
The set brings the parts of the additional tank in 1:32 scale in the form in which the modification was done in the field. It is prepared for the Ju 88 kits of the Monogram and Revell brands, so the shapes of the mating surfaces correspond to them. It is an accessory that even those who know the type only in passing will notice on the model, because the tank changes the silhouette of the machine.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic does not work on them; use super glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flat so that the part seats without a gap. Wash and degrease before painting. First offer the tank up dry and mark its position, and only then glue it; putting things right after super glue has set is always worse than a moment spent measuring. The specific fitting procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
