A scenic ground for a diorama in 1:35 scale on the theme of a city street. Hue is a former imperial seat in central Vietnam with its historical buildings preserved; in 1968 it became the setting of long fighting conducted directly in the streets, which is one of the most frequently worked subjects of the Vietnam conflict for modelers.
Unlike open terrain, a street binds a composition into a narrow corridor. But that is precisely its strength: the viewer's gaze has a single direction, so what they see first and what only afterward can be controlled exactly. So place the hardware turned toward the axis of the street and leave an open view into the distance in the background; the space will grow to the eye.
City architecture of this type can be told by its plastered surfaces with pronounced patches of damp. A light base has proved itself, with irregular darker flowed-in color drawn from above over it and a unifying filter at the end. Keep the roadway in a cooler shade than the houses, otherwise the scene merges. Apply the dust pigments along the edges and at the curbs, that is where the deposit really gathers.
The customer gets the scenic ground on its own without a finish; the vehicles, the figures and the paints needed to complete the display are obtained according to their own intention.
