A set from the Chinese manufacturer Voyager Model aimed at modern wheeled subjects. It is cut for the Panda PH35025 plastic kit of the armored personnel carrier and deals with the external assemblies where injection-molded plastic is disproportionately thick in 1:35 scale. The model of the vehicle is not in the package.
The Bumerang is a modern Russian modular wheeled platform in an 8x8 layout, designed as a common basis for several vehicle variants. The configuration designated K-16 is an armored personnel carrier with the drivetrain moved forward, thanks to which it has room at the rear for a dismount compartment with a rear ramp. The design reckons with the option of adding further armor and with protection against mines. For the modeler the vehicle is interesting for its broken-up surface with mesh, add-on panels, clamps and the side covers over the wheels, that is features that come out markedly better in photo-etched form than in plastic.
The basic mistake when painting photo-etched parts is a heavy coat. Fine mesh, screens and perforations can be clogged by a few strokes of a brush or one dense pass, and once the openings are flooded the detail is gone for good. So thin the paint more than usual and spray in several light passes from a greater distance, letting the coat build up gradually. Before the covering color, a thin primer meant for metal helps secure adhesion. On perforated parts it pays, once they are dry, to hold the part against the light and immediately clear any flooded openings with the tip of a toothpick or a thin wire.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The basic plastic kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
