A masking sheet for the deck of a model of the battleship USS Missouri BB-63 in her state of 1991, in 1:350 scale, for the Tamiya 78029 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
USS Missouri BB-63 is an American battleship of the Iowa class. After long service she went through an upgrade and as late as the beginning of the 1990s she took part in combat operations; her form of 1991 differs from her state in the Second World War in armament, electronics and finish.
A masking sheet for the deck of a model in 1:350 scale, prepared in shape for the Tamiya 78029 kit. The masks follow the division of the deck areas, so laborious covering with tape is unnecessary and the spraying has a crisp transition even around the superstructures and the deck features. The breakdown of the parts and their placement can be found in the instructions. Lay the parts on dry before sticking them down so that you know which goes where.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased and completely dry surface before spraying. Press the edges down properly, otherwise paint will flow under them. Spray thinly and in several coats, as a thick coat gets under the edge of a mask more easily. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has set, while the coat is not yet fully cured, and pull them away slowly, at an angle back over themselves. Any overflow can be put right with a brush once it is uncovered.
For a ship modeler who wants the deck crisply separated and does not want to cover it by hand. The work is undemanding, and tweezers and a sharp blade for raising the edge of a mask come in useful. The work in 1:350 scale is fine, though, so count on good light.
The package contains only the masking sheet. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
