Replacement wheels for a model of the British BAC 167 Strikemaster aircraft in 1:48 scale, made for the FLY kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The BAC 167 Strikemaster was a British light combat aircraft derived from the Jet Provost trainer. It was created for air forces that needed one machine for training and for light strikes: armament could be hung under the wing and the instructor and pupil sat side by side. It was exported to a range of countries in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America, and in smaller air forces it lasted a long time, because it was undemanding to operate and to maintain.
It brings replacement wheels in 1:48 scale made for the FLY kit. On aircraft models, wheels are among the parts where simplification shows most: the tire tread tends to be shallow and the hub flat. The replacement offers more pronounced shapes than a small plastic molding allows. Before fitting them, hold the wheels up to the model and compare the diameter, the width and the axle diameter with the parts in the kit.
The parts are not polystyrene and liquid cement for plastic does not hold on them; use super glue in a tiny amount. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface, so that the wheel sits square on the landing gear leg. Wash and degrease before painting. It is more comfortable to paint a wheel away from the model: first the whole of it in the shade of the tire, then the hub with the help of masking tape or a brush. Fit them at the end of the build and check that the model stands on all its wheels at once.
For modelers who are building the Strikemaster in the larger scale and want the landing gear at the level of the rest of the model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
