Quickboost 1:48 Bristol Beaufighter Porcupine exhausts II. is a resin detail set with a faithful rendering of the anti-glare exhausts for night operations.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set in 1:48 scale adds the characteristic anti-glare exhausts nicknamed Porcupine to a model of the Bristol Beaufighter heavy fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified plastic parts from the box with finely cast stubs with hollowed pipes. The set is intended for more experienced modelers.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine heavy fighter and night fighter powered by Bristol Hercules radial engines. Thanks to its rugged design it carried heavy armament and an onboard radar, and it excelled as a night hunter from the fighting over Britain to the Pacific. The Porcupine anti-glare exhausts were meant to damp down the glow of the exhaust gases, so that the light trail of the engines would not give the machine away in the dark.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Separate the stubs from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the resin with respiratory protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful. Spray the exhausts in a dark metallic shade and bring out the burnt and rusty tones with washes and pigments.
It is supplied as an unglued and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
