A detail set of the wheel bays for the Grumman F-14 Tomcat carrier-based fighter in the A and D versions, in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. The resin accessory replaces the often simplified bays of a plastic kit with faithfully detailed compartments carrying the structure of the ribs, piping and lines.
The F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The A version was the original production variant, while the D version received updated avionics and new engines. The aircraft served for many years with naval aviation.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond with super glue. The bays come into their own once painted in a base shade, with the edges picked out by a dry brush and a gentle wash that underlines the three-dimensional structure.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
