The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden was a Japanese land-based naval interceptor designed to climb quickly and to destroy enemy bombers. It was powered by a potent radial engine and the machine had a bulkier fuselage than the slim Zero. It began to reach the units from 1944 and was used mainly to defend Japanese cities against B-29 bomber raids. It was built in relatively small numbers.
Tamiya parts usually fit superbly; bond them with liquid cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit and bring it out before you close the fuselage, and decide in advance on extended or retracted landing gear. The typical Japanese naval schemes have a dark green upper surface and a light underside — after a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add restrained wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
