This resin detail set in 1:48 scale adds finely cast barrels of the on-board armament with drilled-out mouths to a model of the Lockheed P-38M Lightning fighter. It is not a kit of the airplane but an accessory that replaces the simplified plastic barrels from the box, grouped in the nose of the central nacelle. The set is meant for more experienced modelers.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter marked by a pair of tail booms. The P-38M night version was a two-seater, carried radar and an operator in a rear cockpit and was given a dark night finish. The armament was grouped in the nose of the central nacelle, so faithfully rendered barrels are especially conspicuous on this machine.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Separate the parts from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping, and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the resin with respiratory protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful to health. Spray the barrels in a dark metallic shade and bring out the metallic sheen lightly.
It is supplied as an unglued and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
