A double-sided set of masks for painting a Sea King helicopter model in the HAS.1, HAS.5 and HU.5 versions in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea King is a large naval helicopter that served the Fleet Air Arm for decades. Its fuselage is shaped like a boat hull and it carries floats on the sides so that the machine can stay on the surface; the rotor blades and the tail boom fold for stowage on deck. The HAS designation belongs to the anti-submarine variants, that is, to machines equipped to search for and attack submarines; HU.5 is the transport and rescue variant. The cabin and the sides have a large area of glazing, which is exactly the kind of work that decides how the model turns out.
The set is listed as double-sided: the masks are cut for the outer as well as the inner side of the parts. The framing of the glazing can thus be sprayed from both sides and the edge stays sharp even when looking into the cabin, which is clearly visible on a helicopter. Before buying, compare which version you are building.
Apply the mask before spraying, to a clean and degreased part, and press the edge down along its whole length with a blunt point. Apply the paint in several thin coats; one heavy coat will draw in under the edge and the edge will be blurred. Remove the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it back over itself at an angle. On large areas of glazing work in sections so that the mask does not ripple.
For builders of naval helicopters in 1:48 scale. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
