A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the UH-1D helicopter in 1:48 scale. Thin metal gives fine definition where plastic has to be thicker than the real thing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The UH-1D is the transport version of the American Bell UH-1 helicopter, widely known by the nickname Huey. Compared with the earlier machines it received a lengthened cabin, so it carried more troops and more cargo, and it became one of the most widespread helicopters of its day. It stands on skids rather than on a wheeled landing gear, and its large sliding doors are the reason it pays to give attention to the inside of the cabin on a model: with the doors open practically all of it is on show.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for this type. Etched metal is an order of magnitude thinner than a plastic part, so it suits instrument panels, consoles, seat belts, grilles and other details where every tenth of a millimeter shows. The extent of the set and the position of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard mat and work with fine-jawed tweezers. Make each bend on a straight edge in a single movement. Bond with super glue applied to the plastic with the tip of a toothpick; too large a drop runs into the etched definition and swamps it. Lay the smallest parts out on a piece of adhesive tape turned sticky side up so they do not flick away across the table. Wash and degrease the metal before painting so the paint holds. On the cabin it pays to assemble and test the whole interior dry while the fuselage halves are still apart, and only then to glue them together.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
