A plastic kit of the Bell UH-1D utility helicopter, nicknamed the Huey, in 1:48 scale. The set from the manufacturer Kitty Hawk is molded in gray polystyrene on several frames, with a frame of clear parts and photo-etched sheet to go with it. The model is known for its rich interior detail: separate armor for the front seats, lining for the roof and the cabin, well worked out instrument and overhead panels and the option of fitting the door guns in two patterns. A decal sheet is included which makes it possible to build the machine in several marking variants.
The Bell UH-1 is a single-engine utility helicopter with a turboshaft engine and a two-blade main rotor. Against the earlier variants the UH-1D version has a lengthened cabin with more room for carrying people and cargo and large sliding doors. It was used for transport, supply, the evacuation of the wounded and training, and it became one of the most widespread helicopters of its day. A number of machines served outside military use as well, for example with rescue and firefighting services.
Paint and shade the interior before you close the cabin up, as the glazing is large and the interior is clearly visible through it. Glue the clear parts with a cement made for canopies and mask them beforehand. While gluing, check the main rotor and the tail boom against twisting, so that the model stands straight. Varnish the areas with gloss clear coat before the decals and finally unify the surface with matte varnish. Open sliding doors and fitted door guns will bring the finished display case scene markedly to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
