A single resin casting replaces the tarpaulin over the bed of the American two-and-a-half-ton cargo truck, in the state where the rear part is open. The part is fitted onto a finished model and does not replace the kit of the vehicle. The maker is Black Dog. The casting seats onto the bows over the bed of the Tamiya 32548 kit.
The tarpaulin over the bed protected both the load and the soldiers from rain and dust, and in practice it was handled freely: the rear flap was rolled or turned up according to the weather and according to whether loading was going on. An open rear gives a model a story, because the inside of the bed can be seen and the vehicle stops looking like a closed box on wheels.
Since there is only one part, the result is decided precisely by how it is seated. Check how the tarpaulin sits on the bows over the bed and fill any gap with putty, which you then sand away to nothing. Canvas looks best when the shade is brightened on the crests of the folds and darkened in the hollows. Faded places above the edges give the fabric the age it needs. The boundary between the taut and the slack part of the canvas is also worth emphasizing.
