About product

1:16 MG 42 (Firma49)

A resin, 3D-printed model of the German MG 42 machine gun in the large 1:16 scale from Firma49. It is not a vehicle kit but a stand-alone weapon for fitting into dioramas and figure scenes. The large scale allows a precise rendering of the barrel jacket, the stock and the bipod.

The real subject

The MG 42 was a German general-purpose machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber introduced during the Second World War. It became famous for a very high rate of fire, which earned it a nickname from its characteristic sound. It was used as a light machine gun on a bipod and as a heavy one on a mount, and it became one of the most significant infantry weapons of its day; its design influenced postwar machine guns.

Usage tips

  • Wash the uncured print resin residue off the parts and separate them from the print supports.
  • Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
  • Paint the metal surfaces a dark steel and bring them to life with graphite or a dry brush.

Who the model is for

  • Builders of dioramas and figure scenes in the large 1:16 scale.
  • Modelers interested in German weapons of the Second World War.
  • More experienced modelers working with resin.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and figures are not included in the package.
