Two sheets of camouflage masks for the F-104 Starfighter in 1:48 scale. The earth scheme corresponds to the machines that operated over Vietnam in the 1960s.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets of pre-cut stencils for spraying the earth camouflage scheme such as the Starfighters deployed over South East Asia carried. The cut is based on the dimensions of the ordinary F-104 kit in 1:48 scale and is usable for most models of this type.
The F-104C version was deployed in South East Asia from 1965 to 1967, flew over five thousand two hundred combat sorties and losses reached fourteen machines. An aircraft designed for a fast climbing interception against bombers thus found itself in a role it was not built for. The original bare metal was replaced by the earth tones usual for that whole theater; the national insignia were retained, only in a smaller rendition.
Camouflage stencils are laid in order from the lightest shade to the darkest, always only after the previous layer has dried perfectly. The thin wing of the Starfighter with its very sharp edges calls for careful pressing of the mask at the leading edge, as otherwise paint will run under. Once finished, take the mask off gradually and at an angle, not straight upward.
The package contains only stencils.
