The Japanese aircraft carrier Chuyo is a plastic kit in the waterline version in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Aoshima.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese escort carrier Chuyo in the popular 1:700 scale. The model is rendered in the waterline style, that is, it shows the ship cut at the waterline for placing on a water base or in a diorama. The package covers the hull parts, the flight deck, the superstructure and the small armament; it is a classic kit to be assembled and painted, ideal as part of a waterline arrangement of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
The Chuyo was one of the Taiyo class escort carriers, converted from fast ocean liners. They served above all to carry aircraft and escort convoys, not as full-fledged strike carriers. The Chuyo was sunk by an American submarine in December 1943. Her silhouette, with a short flight deck and a hull of civilian origin, differs markedly from the large fleet carriers.
Separate the small armament parts carefully and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Paint the deck and the hull separately before gluing them together; the flight deck will show at its best with gentle highlighting of the planking. For a realistic result a wash patina and drybrushing on the edges suit well. Set the waterline model on a flat sea base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
