A plastic kit of the American Balao class submarine in 1:700 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima, part of the Waterline series. The set makes it possible to assemble the model as a waterline build on the surface, or, according to the package, to build it with the full hull on the stand supplied.
The Balao was a numerous class of American ocean-going submarines committed in the Pacific during the Second World War. It was marked by great range, strong torpedo armament and a deck gun. Submarines of this class played a key role in the campaign against Japanese shipping.
Separate the small parts of the conning tower, the gun and the railings carefully and glue them with thin cement for plastic. Submarines paint well with an airbrush in dark naval shades; the lower part of the hull can be picked out separately and the whole brought out with shading and a dry brush. According to the package the model can be shown on the surface or on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
