About product

Mr.Paint MRP-099 U.S.Navy White (FS 17875)

A pre-thinned acrylic lacquer from Mr.Paint intended exclusively for spraying with an airbrush. It comes in a bottle of 30 ml and is ready for immediate use with no further thinning at a normal nozzle size. The shade matches the American Federal Standard (FS) 17875, also listed under the wartime code ANA 515, a gloss US Navy white.

Use

  • The white of the lower surfaces of US Navy carrier aircraft
  • It complements the upper surfaces in the Light Gull Grey shade (FS 36440) in the postwar two-tone scheme
  • The shade matches the Federal Standard (FS) 17875 and ANA 515 (insignia white)
  • Apply with an airbrush in thin coats over a suitable primer; it is thinned with the thinner of the same brand

Who it is for

For modelers building US Navy carrier aircraft who need an accurate white for the lower surfaces, ready to spray with an airbrush straight away.

This is a flammable solvent-based lacquer intended for the airbrush only. Use in a well-ventilated area and with a respirator, away from sources of ignition and children.

FAQ

It is the white of the lower surfaces of US Navy carrier aircraft. In the postwar scheme Light Gull Grey (FS 36440) complements it on the upper surfaces.

ANA 515 is the period American Army-Navy designation of the same white shade (insignia white), which today matches the Federal Standard FS 17875.

The lacquer is pre-thinned for the airbrush only. Spray in thin coats over a suitable primer; for fine techniques it can be thinned further with the thinner of the same brand. Work with ventilation and a respirator.
