An injection-molded plastic kit of the American command and communications ship USS Mount Whitney in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. This variant captures the ship in her 1997 configuration. The hull can be built whole for a stand or in a waterline version. The box contains parts for the hull and the superstructure, decals and instructions.
USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20) is the second ship of the Blue Ridge class of amphibious command ships. She serves as the flagship of the US Sixth Fleet and provides integrated command and communications facilities for the commander of operations. The 1997 appearance corresponds to the arrangement of antennas and electronics of the late 1990s.
Glue with thin plastic cement. Decide in advance between the full-hull and the waterline version. The extensive antennas and masts come into their own after a primer coat and an airbrush; the fine lattice work can be replaced with photo-etched parts. Pick the details out with a wash into the recesses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
