Deck mooring hooks for American aircraft carriers 1:72 from Metallic Details: fine photo-etched parts for a convincing diorama deck.
Responsibility details are not available.
A standalone detail accessory, neither a model of an aircraft nor of a ship. The set contains fine photo-etched metal mooring (tie-down) hooks of the kind that studded the wooden decks of American aircraft carriers of the Second World War and to which parked aircraft were secured. It serves to bring deck dioramas and bases in 1:72 scale to life.
The wooden flight decks of American aircraft carriers of the Second World War were regularly set with rows of recessed tie-down rings and hooks. Parked aircraft were secured to them with ropes and chains so that they could stand the rolling of the ship and the airflow. This small but ever-present feature gives a diorama its authenticity.
Separate the photo-etched parts carefully from the fret and set them into pre-drilled holes in the deck. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Once the deck has been painted, pick the hooks out with a dark wash so that they stand out from the surrounding wood.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
