This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa captures a test aircraft of the F-35B variant. The rendering matches the first flying B prototype with its characteristic large air data probe and the large blade antenna near the weapons bay. The decal sheet includes, among other things, the flags of the countries involved in the development of the aircraft and bold markings on the vertical tail.
The F-35 Lightning II is an American fifth-generation multi-role fighter with reduced radar signature. The B variant is adapted for short take-off and vertical landing thanks to a lift fan behind the cockpit and a swiveling engine nozzle. The test prototypes served to verify the flying qualities and carried extensive instrumentation that differed from production aircraft.
Use thin cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully for the smooth surface of a stealth airframe. Apply a primer before painting and spray the uniform low-reflective finish with an airbrush; individual panels can be shaded subtly. Apply the decals over gloss varnish and seal them with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
