Armory 1:72 F-4 Phantom II wheels with weighted tires, mid type is a resin set of landing gear wheels for Phantom models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic wheels of a Phantom model in 1:72 scale and has its tires shaped with the load where they touch down. The manufacturer divides the wheels for this type into early, mid and late forms, and this item is the mid one. The division makes practical sense: the Phantom was built for a long time, in many versions and for several operators, so the patterns of the wheels changed over its service.
The F-4 Phantom II is an American two-seat twin-engined supersonic multi-role combat aircraft, one of the most widespread Western machines of its era. It served with land-based as well as carrier aviation and in a number of other countries, where it enjoyed a long career and successive upgrades. It is a heavy machine, so deformation of the tires on the apron is appropriate on it.
The surest procedure is to choose the correct type before buying: compare photographs of the particular machine you are building with the form of the wheels in the set. The work itself is standard: washing off the mold release agent, cutting off the casting blocks, leveling the contact surface and gluing with cyanoacrylate. Painting over primer. On the Phantom it pays to pay attention to the hub as well, as in photographs it tends to be markedly lighter than the rubber and often scuffed from maintenance. A thinned wash in the recesses and a fine pigment at the contact patch add credibility, and a matte coat evens out the surface.
The set is supplied unpainted, as resin castings intended for further work. Paints, glue and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package.
