A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. This resin external (drop) tank replaces the plastic tank from the base kit of the American F6F Hellcat carrier fighter in the -3 and -5 versions in 1:72 scale. The casting is a single piece with no parting seam, so there is no gluing of two halves and no filling of the joint.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier fighter of the Second World War with a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine. For longer escort and combat flights it carried a jettisonable external tank under the fuselage, which extended its range. A tank from a single casting has a clean shape with no longitudinal seam and captures the aerodynamic shell more faithfully.
