A plastic kit in 1:72 from the Forces of Valor brand. The smaller scale means a compact model that fits a display case as well as a desk, and yet it keeps the proportions of a heavy tank — the Tiger II was among the largest production machines of its day in both size and weight. The model is conceived for a quicker build rather than for the maximum number of parts, which makes it a way into 1:72 even for modelers who otherwise build in 1:35.
The Tiger II, also called the Königstiger, combined strongly sloped armor with the 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun. Two patterns are told apart by the maker of the turret: the earlier turret with a curved front plate and a narrower field of view, and the later Henschel turret, which this model carries — it has a flat front plate, a simpler shape to the mantlet and was easier to produce. The difference between the two turrets is the most conspicuous distinguishing mark of the whole type, which is why it is given in the name already. The high weight of the machine loaded the running gear and limited both its range and its ability to cross bridges.
In 1:72 the cleanness of the work decides more than the number of parts — sand the mold seams on the hull and the barrel smooth, because in a small scale every seam reads disproportionately heavy. Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull up. A brush as well as an airbrush will manage the painting; in a small scale lower the contrast of the camouflage tones, or the pattern will optically break up the shape. At the end come a dark line into the engraved gaps, fine lightening of the edges and dust on the underside of the hull and on the wheels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
