Ki-61-Id Hien drop tanks with pylons are resin auxiliary fuel tanks with pylons in 1:72 from the Quickboost range by the manufacturer Aires. They add stores for long range to a model of the Japanese fighter.

This is a detail accessory of cast resin, not a kit of an aircraft. The content is jettisonable auxiliary fuel tanks including the pylons for a model of the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien in 1:72. The castings have a smooth surface with no mold seam, which on injected tanks always has to be laboriously sanded away, and at the same time they keep the fine detail of the mountings and the filler caps.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese fighter of the Second World War and among Japanese production machines it stood out for its liquid-cooled V12 engine, thanks to which it had a slender nose untypical of Japanese aircraft of the day. The Ki-61-Id version belongs to the later batches. The drop tanks under the wing extended the range on transfers and in operations over the sea; once empty they could be jettisoned, so the machines are to be seen in both configurations in photographs.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and rid them of any release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the mating surfaces by sanding wet with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint both the tanks and the pylons separately and fit them only once the basic wing coat is finished, otherwise they will get in the way of masking. Check that both tanks are the same distance from the fuselage, parallel with the axis of the aircraft and at the same height; asymmetry is apparent at once with stores. The smooth surface of the tanks takes a gloss base under the decals well, along with a fine wash of dark tone along the seams.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
