Resin castings complete a model of the Israeli tank with external gear. It is a straightforward way to give a build a lived-in look without touching its structure.
The Israeli tank differs from most of its contemporaries in its layout alone: the engine is mounted at the front, so the powerpack forms a further obstacle on the axis of the most frequent threat and the crew sits behind it. A compartment with a door was left at the rear, through which the vehicle can be left or materiel loaded into it. The third generation brought stronger gun armament, a new fire control system and tougher armor. It was precisely this version that became the backbone of the Israeli armored units in the 1990s.
Israeli vehicles tend to be covered in the personal gear of the crew, in nets and in boxes, so fit the castings in a random rather than a tidy way. In terms of color it pays to keep a uniform base and to create the differences only with flowed-in shades and light edges. You can imitate the dust of Sinai sand with a pigment applied to the edges of the running gear and left to fade gradually upward. Wipe any excess pigment away with a wide soft brush.
