An injection-molded plastic kit of the British First World War Mk I tank in the Female version in a special modification for deployment at Gaza, in 1:72 scale from Master Box. It is an unassembled and unpainted model of the first tank in history to be committed to battle. The package contains plastic sprues, tracks and a decal; the exact breakdown of parts is stated on the box.
The Mk I tank was the first tank committed to battle, first in 1916 on the Somme. Its characteristic rhomboid shape with tracks running around the whole hull was meant to cross trenches and wire obstacles. The Female version was armed only with machine guns and was intended for defense against enemy infantry; unlike the Male version it carried no gun armament. The modification for Gaza refers to the deployment of British tanks on the Middle Eastern front against Turkish forces, where the vehicles received additions for operation in desert conditions.
First glue the two halves of the hull carefully together and start with the tracks, which frame the whole outline. The sponsons with the machine gun positions are a feature on show, so take care over their exact seating. The base coat tends to be a uniform khaki or desert brown; a wash brings out the rivets and the scribing, and dust pigments add a desert patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
