The RWD-8 was a two-seat high-wing monoplane with its wing carried above the fuselage on struts, of the so-called parasol type, of mixed construction with fabric covering and with fixed landing gear with a tail wheel. It came about in the first half of the 1930s as a basic trainer and liaison airplane and was among the most numerously produced Polish machines of the interwar period. It was built in parallel at two plants, in the parent DWL workshop and at the PWS plant; the two series differed in details of the construction and in the shape of the tail surfaces, so the PWS and DWL versions are not interchangeable. The airplane served in military and civilian training, on liaison flights and for observation; after 1939 individual machines got outside Europe and flew with Polish units in the Middle East.
Glue the small parts in this scale with liquid cement for plastic, which wicks into the joint and does not run over the surface. Dry-fit the parts before gluing and clean up the sprue gates and the mold seams with a fine file and a sanding sponge. It is good to paint the fuselage and the wing separately and to join them only once they are dry, and to seat the interplane and landing gear struts with tweezers. The bracing of the tail surfaces is well imitated with drawn sprue or fine thread. Spray the areas with a gloss varnish before the decals, unify the surface with a matte varnish once it is dry and pick out the rib structure of the fabric covering with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
