An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet light tank T-26 in its single-turret form with a 45 mm gun, 1:72 scale, the manufacturer Mirage Hobby. The set contains plastic parts and decals. The manufacturer uses the designation LH/45 to distinguish a particular variant within its series of T-26 models, so we recommend taking the particular definition from the instructions in the package.
The T-26 was the main Soviet light tank of the second half of the 1930s and in numerous versions it still served in the first years of the war. In design it derived from the British six-ton tank taken over under license, and it therefore had similar running gear and a similar hull layout. While the oldest examples had two turrets with machine guns, from the middle of the 1930s the single-turret form with a 45 mm gun predominated, which gave the vehicle real firepower against armored targets. T-26 tanks took part in the fighting in Spain as well as in the north of Europe, and some of the captured vehicles then served in Finnish units as well, where they could be maintained easily thanks to their common origin with the British original.
In 1:72 scale the parts of the running gear are small, so cut them off with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Finish and paint the running gear before fitting the fenders. Apply a filler primer and spray the camouflage shade with an airbrush. Bring out the details with a dark wash in the pressings and a fine dry brush on the edges. Deal with dust and mud with pigments only on the lower part of the vehicle, as exaggerated weathering is distracting in a small scale. The model looks good on a small base with a piece of terrain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
