This is a decal set in 1:72 scale from the brand Model Maker for the Yak-18 carrying the civil registration SP-YYY. It is not a kit but a sheet of decals for a finished and painted model. The letter prefix SP belongs to the Polish civil aircraft register.
The Yak-18 is a Soviet two-seat piston trainer of the postwar period that served for basic pilot training and later spread widely into civil flying-club use as well. It is precisely the civil machines that tend to interest modelers, because their finishes are more colorful than the uniform military version and individual examples differ from one another.
Overcoat the model with a gloss varnish and let it cure, otherwise a white haze will be left around the decals. Soak the decal in clean water, let it soften on its paper, slide it onto a dampened spot and adjust the position with a soft brush. The registration letters on the fuselage and the wing deserve particular attention, because uneven spacing is immediately visible on a finished model. Then use a softener and, once dry, even the surface out with an overcoat. On a flying-club machine a semi-gloss or gloss is usually more appropriate than a deep matte.
