ATOM COLOR Vintage Pink – a shade from the ATOM paint range

A single bottle of one shade from the ATOM modeling paint range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. It is neither a kit nor a set but a paint for finishing models. The name Vintage Pink points to a muted pink shifted toward gray, the kind that calls to mind an older coat of paint bleached by the sun.

Where the shade is used

Aged pinks are rewarding precisely because they do not look new. They come into their own on retro civilian machinery, on rendering and facades in dioramas, on advertising panels and lettering, on the textiles of figures and on small interior fittings. The shade also works well as a lightening top tone over red and pink surfaces, where the impression of a long-exposed coat of paint is wanted without having to do a full weathering job.

Advice for working with the paint

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before every use.
• Muted shades are easily lost over a dark surface, so start with a lighter base.
• The impression of an aged coat is strengthened by thin uneven layers rather than by one smooth application.
• If you thin the paint or clean your tools, reach for the thinner and cleaner from the same ATOM range.
• Make the test on a scrap surface with the same base the model has.
