Dark Tan FS 30219, a darker sand in 17 ml

A paint from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive carried under the part number RC895, volume 17 ml. The shade is a darker sand tone defined by the number FS 30219 from the American standard. With sand colors the number is particularly useful, because a whole series of them exists under similar names and the difference between them is clearly visible on a model.

The real subject

A darker sand is one of the shades of dry and semi-arid terrain. On equipment it appears both as an overall finish and as one field of a multicolor camouflage, where it holds the lighter side of the scheme beside earthy browns. Next to purely light sands it reads as more settled, so it also suits places where the surface is meant to look dusty rather than freshly sprayed, and as a tone for dried mud on the running gear.

Working with the paint

• Sand tones lighten as they dry, so judge the result only on a test spray.
• Apply thin coats, so that engraving and rivets stay legible.
• Apply masks before spraying and only onto a cured coat underneath.
• Shake the closed bottle before work, so that the pigment is mixed in.
• Thin with the product recommended for this range and test the ratio on an offcut.

Who it will serve

Builders of military equipment in any scale who make machines in desert or dry terrain, and anyone looking for a settled sand tone for dusting. Work in a well-ventilated room and close the bottle after use.

The package contains one bottle of paint of 17 ml. The thinner, brushes, an airbrush and varnish are not included, unless stated otherwise.
