LACI 1:200 JT8D-7/17 for the Boeing 727-100 and 727-200 Advanced is a resin set of engines that replaces the powerplants of a plastic kit of the three-engine Boeing 727 in 1:200 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of an airplane but a resin accessory to a model of the Boeing 727 in 1:200 scale. It replaces the engine nacelles out of the box and covers two variants of the Pratt & Whitney JT8D powerplant - the less powerful form used on the 727-100 version and the more powerful form from the 727-200 Advanced version.
The Boeing 727 carries three engines: two in side nacelles and one built into the rear of the fuselage with its intake above the fuselage. The shape of the nacelles, the intakes and the exhaust is decisive for the silhouette of the aircraft, and in 1:200 scale the plastic parts from older molds often differ in proportion as well as in the sharpness of the edges. A resin casting offers finer detail and a thinner intake wall. Because the set covers both engine versions, it can be used to build the basic shorter version as well as the later stretched one with higher thrust.
Wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that primer holds on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surface with sandpaper laid on a flat support - sand wet and protect your breathing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). On airliners the skin of the nacelle tends to be gloss or polished metal, so spray in thin coats onto a perfectly smooth base and leave the metallic shades for the very end, because they are harder to overspray and to mask.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
