1:24 Wheel set for the F4U Corsair and F6F Hellcat, the carrier version is a resin accessory from the manufacturer Reskit for large models of American naval fighters. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a resin wheel set in 1:24 scale in the form for naval, that is, carrier service. It replaces the plastic wheels with parts that have a finer tire surface, a legible hub and a more accurate shape where the tire meets the ground. The manufacturer also offers a version for land bases separately, so it pays to choose the one that matches the machine being depicted.
The F4U Corsair and the F6F Hellcat were among the main fighters of the US Navy and the Marine Corps at the close of the Second World War. The Hellcat was created as a carrier machine from the outset, with robust landing gear and good stability on landing, while the Corsair reached the decks after changes to the landing gear and to the view from the cockpit. Carrier service makes different demands on wheels than a grass or dusty airfield, which shows in their form and in their wear as well.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface wet and with a mask. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Carrier machines tended to be cleaner than aircraft from field airfields, so go easy on dust and mud; fine salt and oil around the landing gear, matte tires and a lightly rubbed tread are more convincing. Pick the hub out with a mask or a careful brush, so that the transition to the tire stays sharp.
The set contains resin accessory parts only. The kit, paints, glue and decals are not included in the package.
