This injection-molded plastic kit captures the police version of the Toyota Crown sedan of the GRS182 generation in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Aoshima. The set is based on the civilian model and adds the features typical of Japanese patrol cars: a roof light bar and police equipment, parts to blank off the sunroof, a set of wheels for the police version, masking templates for the window frames and a sheet of waterslide decals. The body is broken down into logical assemblies, and clear parts for the glazing and rubber tires are usually included.
The Crown of the GRS182 generation, known as the Zero Crown, was built in the first half of the 2000s as a representative mid-size rear-wheel-drive car. In Japan the Crown has long been among the typical cars of the traffic police and patrol units, where it serves in a white and black finish with a light bar and lettering.
Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and degrease the parts before painting. It pays to spray the body with an airbrush over primer, and a gloss top coat brings out the smoothness of the bodywork. The masks and decals supplied make the window frames and the police graphics easier; apply the decals onto a gloss surface and seal them with varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
