Exhaust nozzles for the F-14D Tomcat in the open position are a replacement detail from the Reskit brand in 1:32 scale. They replace the nozzles on a model under construction; the aircraft itself is not in the package. The nozzles are shaped for the Trumpeter kit.

Reskit offers a replacement for the tail end of the engines of a large Tomcat model in the D version, in the spread-open position. It is an accessory for a builder who wants to replace the usually simplified nozzles from the kit with more faithful detail. The name states production by 3D printing technology. The mating diameters match the rear fuselage of the Trumpeter kit.
The last version of the Tomcat received new engines compared with the early machines, and with them differently shaped exhaust nozzles. It is by those that the D version can be recognized in a photograph. Once the engines are shut down the nozzle petals relax and stay spread open, so machines parked on the deck of an aircraft carrier tend to have their nozzles open all the way.
The nozzles are among the most closely watched places on a model, so it pays to go for a combination of metallic shades. Spray a dark base first, then go lightly over it with a steel tone and finally create warm transitions in the places where the real subject gets hottest. Darken the inside of the petals so the nozzles gain depth, and test the joint with the fuselage dry before gluing.
The original engines had long, narrow tail sections with cover straps that maintenance often removed, so in photographs you will meet several appearances of the same place. The later nozzles of the D version are shorter, more pronounced in their divisions and can be told from the early machines even at a distance. Before buying, therefore, check which version of the Tomcat you are building.
