This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory to its equipment. According to the name it is one piece of the early 600-gallon drop tank in the all-welded form, pylon included. A tank of this size is carried under the fuselage on the Phantom, so the set changes the silhouette of the model seen from the front and from below, and it suits anywhere you want to catch a machine turned out for a long flight.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was one of the most widespread combat aircraft of the second half of the twentieth century. It served with the Navy, the Marine Corps and the Air Force of the United States and with many foreign users, in fighter, strike and reconnaissance roles among others. The large centerline tank was a typical part of its fit on long-range flights, and in the early period it was made in a form without joint seams, which differs from the later types in both surface and attachment detail.
Seat the centerline tank dry and check that it sits on the fuselage centerline; the slightest misalignment shows at once from the front. The surface of the tank is smooth, so it pays to spend time sanding and filling any unevenness before painting. A coat of primer will reveal the spots that still need work. Use cyanoacrylate glue to join it to the plastic fuselage part, and sand with respiratory protection.
