Reskit 1:32 Spitfire, five-spoke wheels with a weighted flat spot is a resin replacement for the landing gear wheels for large models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic landing gear wheels with resin ones; it is not an airplane kit. According to the name this is the variant with a five-spoke disc and a weighted flat spot on the tire, that is, with a flat footprint, as if the model were standing on the surface under its own weight.
The Spitfire was built with several types of main wheel hub, and the number of spokes on the disc is the most conspicuous distinguishing feature between them. The five-spoke variant has narrower spokes and larger openings between them than the three-point variant, so the disc looks more open. For a model that means one thing: the type of disc has to be chosen to suit the particular machine and period, or the error is immediately visible on the finished model. The wheels sit close to the ground under a narrow landing gear, which on this airplane is one of the most photographed details.
A tire with a flat spot will take only a minimum of sanding, or the shape of the footprint is lost. Remove the remains of the casting blocks by wet sanding with fine paper, then — water binds the dust, cools the surface and keeps the paper from clogging, so the work stays under control. Work in short strokes and keep offering the wheel up against a flat board, so that the footprint sits down across its whole face. Once it has dried, lay down a primer, paint the tire in a flat dark gray shade and either mask the disc with a circular mask or paint it before assembly. A light hint of a dust shade on the footprint pays off.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
