An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the South Korean manufacturer Academy. The real subject is the K9, a modern tracked self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm caliber in service with the Republic of Korea Army (ROK Army). The box offers finely rendered plastic with faithfully worked running gear, photo-etched parts and decals with ROK Army markings. It is an accomplished model of contemporary artillery.
The K9 is a modern 155 mm self-propelled howitzer with a long barrel of 52 calibers, which gives it great range. The vehicle was developed in South Korea as a more capable replacement for older self-propelled howitzers; it has automated loading and the ability to fire rapidly at long range. It has been in service since the turn of the millennium and has spread to a number of other armies as well.
Assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Align the turret and the long barrel while gluing. Once a modern camouflage or single-color scheme has been sprayed, use a wash in the details, apply pigments for dust and mud to the running gear and pick out the edges lightly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
