An injection-molded plastic kit of a civilian pickup converted into a fighting vehicle, a so-called technical, fitted with a ZPU-1 anti-aircraft machine gun on the bed, in 1:35 scale from Meng. The set captures the four-door cab and a faithfully rendered machine gun on its mount. A fighter figure and additional weapons are included in the box.
Improvised fighting vehicles of the technical type come about by fitting ordinary off-road pickups with heavy weapons. The ZPU-1 is a single-barrel heavy anti-aircraft machine gun of 14.5 mm caliber, which for its firepower is often used against ground targets as well. That combination has become a symbol of the asymmetric conflicts of recent decades.
Give attention to the more complex assembly of the mount and the mechanism of the machine gun. Paint the cab and the interior before they are closed up. The civilian paint on pickups tends to be faded and dirty, so after the base color add washes, dust and chipping, which will give the vehicle a worn, field-used look. Paint the figure separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
